People always ask if eat doughnuts and the answer is YES!

Yes, I eat doughnuts. Although, the doughnuts I indulge in are not only tasty, but good for my health too. These Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Doughnuts , for instance, are my latest obsession. Made with a few simple ingredients to support a healthy lifestyle.

Bonus, if you don’t have some of these ingredients, they’re totally substitutable….

Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is totally edible, not very flavorful and has many health benefits. Best known for its detoxification properties, activated charcoal is a potent natural treatment used to trap toxins and chemicals in the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL IS ALSO HELPFUL FOR DIGESTIONS, GAS, BLOATING, HEART HEALTH AND ANTI-AGING!

Activated charcoal works through a process called "adsorption". Adsorption is a chemical reaction where elements attach themselves to a surface. Through Adsorption, activated charcoal is able to bind to certain poisons, heavy metals and other toxins to its surface to help pull them out of your body.

Turmeric

Spices have been used for centuries in Chinese and Indian (Ayurvedic) medicine to predominantly for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. They are gut biome healing powerhouses, and some are pretty tasty, too!

The antioxidant properties of spices have the ability to stop those free radicals that damage cells and lead to inflammation. Turmeric is definitely one of those life-enhancing spices that you should stock in your cupboard at all times.

How is Turmeric life-enhancing? Well, not only is it a brilliant color (thanks curcumin), but Turmeric is also an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, wonder spice! Turmeric has been used to treat everything from allergies, arthritis and diabetes, to autoimmune diseases, liver disease and even Alzheimer’s… mic drop. (right?).

But seriously, fill your home with spices and herbs because ounce for ounce, herbs and spices are extremely potent compared to other foods. Adding just a few spices and herbs to your food, especially desserts, can amp-up the antioxidant power of your meal in a delicious way. That’s why I used Turmeric in this deliciously healthy and healing Peanut Butter Turmeric Frosting!
